Liberal Senator James McGrath suggests new proposed legislation which would call for citizens to present ID when they vote is a “wise” reform.
“Canada, France, Belgium, Sweden – the UK’s bringing it in – all these other liberal democracies need voter ID and most folks count on to show ID,” Mr McGrath explained to Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“Why shouldn’t you have to demonstrate ID when you are likely to accomplish your most vital civic responsibility, and that is doing exercises your vote.”
He stated the bill is a “pretty wise, moderate” reform.
“It just claims, you’ve acquired to display a kind of ID right before you get a ballot paper.”
